The historical period covered begins with the Bretton Woods Agreements of 1944, which established the International Monetary System, and extends up to the present day. The article examines the interrelationship of economic theory and reality as a framework for the interpretation of the historical dynamics. This article analyses the main aspects referring to the study of trade matters. Contemporary issues related to goods and services interchanges -globalization, regionalism and specialization- are studied in connection with historical process beginning in XIX century. Abstract:

The RDBs arose to attend directly the development needs in certain geographical areas, in some of them (Africa and Asia) the end of the colonial era opened the way to the emerging of the new States and new international relations. In this way arose the BID, the BAfD and the BAsD. The collapse of the centrally planned economies is the origin of the BERD to support the East countries in its development towards the market economy.
